I went along to the Heat Exchange II exhibition thats on in St Andrews, containing works of jewellery centred around innovative and exciting ways of using enamel. As always Jessica Turrells work stood out to me, I love the simple shapes that she uses, with such a lovely mix of colour and textures. At ECA we are fortunate enough to have a weeks enamelling course with her, so it's great to see how she works. We then continued on to the Byre theatre in St Andrews for lunch and lectures on enamel. (so many perfect, tiny, triangular sandwiches. dreamy.) We had talks from Elizabeth Turrell (one of the main curator of the exhibition), Dr Elizabeth Goring (on a history of enamel), Karolina Baines, Stephen Bottomley, Susan Cross, Jessica Howarth, Ann Little, Heather McDermott. It was really interesting seeing the inspiration behind their collections of work. It was also nice to be introduced to Ann Little's work as I haven't seen her work before.
